Wilkins Avenue Complaint

Wilkins Avenue Complaint is an a cappella, doo-wop plea to Santa which debuted at our holiday concert in November, 2011. The lyrics are by Joe Burton and Dan Meyer.

Lyrics:

We’ve got a problem,
I’m sorry to say,
The presents we ask for
Ain’t comin’ our way.
Our houses don’t look like
The Christmas cards show,
For we live in Baltimore’s longest
Contiguous row house row.

The 2600 block of Wilkins Avenue
From a thousand feet up looks like it’s
Just one long tar roof.
When you look down from your sleigh,
Santa can’t ya start
Showing us a little heart?
We’re not getting’ our rightful gifts
‘Cuz you can’t tell our houses apart.
Remember last year
I wanted a sled?
You brought it to Sally,
My neighbor instead.
I know it’s confusing
And you’re pretty old
Be careful in Baltimore’s longest
Contiguous row house row.

The 2600 block of Wilkins Avenue
From a thousand feet up looks like it’s
Just one long tar roof.
When you look down from your sleigh,
Santa can’t ya start
Showing us a little heart?
We’re not getting’ our rightful gifts
‘Cuz you can’t tell our houses apart.
When you come visit
You’re in for a treat,
We left Burger Cookies
For you to come eat,
And instead of milk
We put out Natty Boh
To lure you to Baltimore’s longest
Contiguous row house row.
